What is Mean Green Merit Day?

Mean Green Merit Day is a special, invite-only event for high-achieving high school seniors to visit our campus and learn about unique opportunities only offered at UNT.

Should I apply to UNT before attending Mean Green Merit Day?

We highly, highly encourage all Mean Green Merit Day participants to complete their Apply Texas or Common App online applications, submit their official high school transcripts, and submit their SAT/ACT scores prior to attending the event. If you meet our admission requirements, you will be accepted; once accepted, you will then be eligible to complete the General Scholarship Application for potential scholarship consideration. The earlier you start the application process and are admitted, the sooner you can be considered for scholarships.

The registration link is asking for my student ID number. What is that?

Once you complete your application and submit the application fee (or approved fee waiver), you will be given an eight digit UNT student ID number and access to your myUNT account student portal. Use your ID number to complete your Mean Green Merit Day registration.

I was invited to Mean Green Merit Day but do not meet the Honors College Admission Requirements. May I still attend?

Yes you may! Your invitation was not a mistake. We invited you to this special event because we identified you as having the academic potential to benefit from the Honors College experience. Whether you enter the Honors program your first semester or transfer into it with a minimum 3.35 GPA after taking some classes, we believe you will achieve great things as an Honors College student.

How is Mean Green Merit Day different from UNT Preview?

UNT Preview is an open invitation to all prospective students of UNT – future freshmen, transfers, and graduate students – to visit our campus for a university-wide open house. Mean Green Merit Day is an event exclusively for high school seniors who have the academic potential to become members of the Honors College.

Can guests attend the Mean Green Merit Day with me?

Due to the exclusive nature of this event, students may bring a maximum of two guests and they must be limited to parent(s) and guardian(s) only. Any other guests are more than welcome to join you at UNT Preview on the following day.

Will Financial Aid and Scholarships be represented at Mean Green Merit Day?

Scholarship information will be discussed throughout the day on Friday. Financial Aid will also have several presentations during UNT Preview on Saturday.

Why should I attend Mean Green Merit Day?

“Going to Mean Green Merit day helped me choose UNT, and it was the best decision I have ever made. I have not come across a campus more welcoming. The professors are amazing, the campus is beautiful, and the atmosphere is fantastic. If UNT is as close to your home as it is to mine and you are worried about getting the full college experience, don't be. While I am only about 40 minutes from home, and have the ability to easily visit whenever I want, I still feel like I am in my own little world here at UNT. Anything that I could possibly dream about doing is right here on campus. If there is a dream, there is someone here to help you make it come true. I invite you to come and see for yourself all that UNT has to offer.” Julia M. Trotter, Class of 2020
